Effort to transition veterans into the healthcare sector

NORFOLK, Va. — Virginia faces a growing healthcare workforce shortage. Veterans need jobs. Now, a new statewide initiative could fix both problems.
The problem is that they may lack the credentials and licenses required to work in civilian healthcare.
“The military credentials which enable them to do the work in the military don’t match the civilian requirements. So, someone coming out on Friday can’t get a job using their skills on Monday,” said Dr. Bill Hazel, Claude Moore Opportunities CEO.
