Your up to day forecast for the Greater Charlotte area

Rain likely Tuesday through Thursday morning and then again this weekend. Flooding will become more of a threat through the week.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Tonight:

Increasing clouds and cool with lows in the upper 30s to near 40. Some drizzle or mist will be around by morning.

Tuesday-Thursday

Rain is likely on and off through Thursday morning. Scattered rain starts your Tuesday but then becomes widespread through Tuesday afternoon, evening and overnight. Rain will keep the same pattern on Wednesday as well.  Highs in the upper 30s to near 40 Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday will see some clearing later in the day and warmer highs flirting with 60 degrees.

Friday

Look for mostly sunny skies with high temperatures in the low 50s. This is one of two dry days over the next 7 days. Friday night will be mostly cloudy with lows in the mid-30s.

Mountains

Heavy rain could lead to flooding risks. These communities will see snow, sleet and freezing rain. This will be especially true Tuesday morning through Tuesday evening before the changeover to cold rain.

This will create dangerous travel conditions for the western North Carolina mountains where ice accumulations up to 0.25″ could lead to isolated power outages and downed trees. This is why our team has issued a Weather Impact Alert for Ashe, Watauga, and Avery counties on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Rainfall accumulations could total between three and five inches across the mountains, with two and three inches across Charlotte and the Piedmont. Although the most impactful days are Tuesday and Wednesday, scattered rain will linger into Thursday.
