Walmart Supercenter in Asheville, North Carolina partially reopening

Walmart has announced that the store should be fully operational later this spring.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — In a sign of progress following Hurricane Helene, the Walmart Supercenter on Bleachery Boulevard in Asheville is partially reopening Friday.

This reopening will provide residents in the mountains with more convenient access to essential items, especially as hurricane recovery continues in the area.

“We’re excited to reopen our doors and reconnect with our community in Asheville,” store manager Austin Fuertes said. “We are so incredibly grateful for the unwavering support and understanding our community has demonstrated during these difficult times and as we rebuild stronger than ever, together.”

Community leaders held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. to mark the occasion.

As part of the reopening celebration, Walmart presented MANNA FoodBank with a $500,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation to support the food bank’s new warehouse facility in Mills River. It’s being upfitted after their Asheville headquarters was destroyed by Helene.

Walmart has announced that the store should be fully operational later this spring.
